EU
Abbreviation for European Union. The EU was established by the Treaty of Maastricht (officially the Treaty on European Union) which was signed by the then 12 member states of the European Economic Community (EEC) on 7 February 1992 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. It now has 27 members. The EEC was established by the Treaty of Rome in 1957.
